It was interesting, July 30, 2024

I had to chuckle. I enjoyed the concept and the actual play through took me a while to figure out. But I had fun and the whole idea (Spoiler - click to show)of just obfuscating the nouns with one letter was interesting. There were only so many things I could think of to try, but it worked out in the end. It took a long time, and I think the concept was more fun than the actually playing. Still, I think it was clever and it could have had more different responses-- but it is a good hint of what could be done and I found that mildly entertaining. I had gotten some hint of the puzzle from the IF meeting, so it was just a matter of guessing the sequence to try. The challenge is what you type, and what you mean as you type...

A AAA AAAA AAAA, July 29, 2024

A one joke game, but it's a pretty good joke. Is it a commentary on obvious clichés? A clever meta game? A troll? None of these or all three? It is beyond this reviewer's ability to discern the intent but I did enjoy the few minutes it took to solve.

A fairly short and silly game where all coded responses are A's, September 15, 2021
Related reviews: less than 15 minutes

This game uses only the letter A in all of its descriptions. It retains inform's original error messages though.

Like SCP-5251, the puzzle here is figuring out what words would fit into the given spaces. Fortunately, it's based on (Spoiler - click to show)a classic type of adventure puzzle. I only figured that out by looking at the comments of other reviews.

-Polish: The game could certainly have commited harder by implementing more error messages and nouns.
+Descriptiveness: The whole puzzle depends on the way the descriptions are written.
-Interactivity: There could have been a lot more meat here.
+Emotional impact: I found the idea fun.
-Would I play again? No.

AA Out of AAAAA, December 16, 2020

If you've read as far as the game's title, you probably have a good idea of what its shtick is. Everything is AAAAAAAAAA. Great minds will no doubt disagree over whether this is a good premise for a game. I, for one, find it hilarious.

That said, I also feel that the humor is severely weakened by a lack of commitment to the central gag. While the game's objects are all AAA-ified, its verbs are not! This leads to disappointingly non-AAAAA situations, such as having to, for example, (Spoiler - click to show)"examine AAAA" rather than "AAAAAAA AAAA" because the latter is not recognized. There are also a variety of default failure responses that have not been translated into AAAAAAAAA.

With a grand total of one room and two important objects, A AAAAA AAAAAAAAA ought to have carefully crafted what minimal content it has. Instead, by neglecting the details, it ends up not taking its own gag seriously enough to really sell it.

Nice idea, too short, October 28, 2014*

The Gostak taken to the extreme; still, it isn't terribly hard to get the gist and win in a few minutes. I think the "AAAAAAAAA" in the title stands for "Adventure"; if so, I wish this adventure was longer and had more puzzles.
