About the Story

A Crown of Ash is a small Twine Interactive Fiction story written in 500 words for Neo-Twiny Jam 2023. It follows a young prince named Halberd, and his thoughts on an inevitable wedding. There are two small endings to discover. The cover image is a free resource that was done by Potat0Master here on Itch, and can be found here.
This is an idea I plan to flesh out after the game jam ends. This particular version of the game will remain it's own separate entity.
Thank you for checking out my story, and I hope you enjoy it!

The beginning of something great, July 16, 2023

Unlike other Neo Twiny Jam games I've played, this one is openly unfinished a taste of a later game to come.

Therefore, it just stops in its tracks, a less satisfying resolution than a full story.

But it holds out promise for a greater game. There is already tension here; you are a young noble, unhappy with your parents, and bound to marry a prince you do not love, while other potential romantic partners are in the air.

Looks like it could be great when finished, but the current amount is just a dip in the water.

Anxiousness and marriage ceremony, name a more iconic duo., June 7, 2023

As a short prototype, this piece manages to tell just enough to hook the reader, and very little that it leaves you wanting more. From is ominous title to the tense descriptions, the writing manages to leave you with too many questions, and wanting to find those answers. It would be interesting to see where the author takes the story…
Also Armstead is a great name for a knight!
