The year of our lord Two Thousand Twelve is almost over, so let's reflect back on the games we've played this year and see which ones we liked the most. Note that the games don't have to have come out in 2012 to be eligible for this poll. In fact I'd love to hear about the really awesome old games that you only got around to playing this year.

Return to Doom, by Peter D. Killworth 1 vote "I finally got..." [+]"I finally got around to playing through the series that this game is from this year. While I wouldn't suggest that they don't have frustrating elements, all of them have memorable highlights- especially the latter two games in the series. This one in particular, the second game, has varied environments and creatures that have stuck in my mind months after I played it. A wide-scope-of-environments might be common to many old-school games, but I just thought it was done really well here." ( ![]()

Muggle Studies, by M. Flourish Klink 1 vote "I haven't..." [+]"I haven't played much fan-fiction-as-IF that didn't rub me the wrong way, but this one managed to slip through my defenses. While the puzzles aren't exactly challenging, I found exploring the game to be quite enjoyable, despite being only vaguely familiar with the Harry Potter universe." ( ![]()
