About the Story
You thought pitching camp in the shadow of a rock formation was a good idea, but when you awoke to the sound of hoofbeats pounding the sand and saw the cloud of dust raised by the Ranger's posse heading your way, you admitted in retrospect that it was an obvious hiding place.
It seems your luck has just about run out. Time to do something about that.

The true winner in my Heart, October 10, 2026I just spent a very entertaining few days reading through the Iron CHiF episode 3 thread in the IF forums. The concepts really intrigued me and I had some time on my hands, so I decided to actually play the games this time. Holy cow I can't believe Out of Luck was the loser of that episode! I found the puzzles charming and that the central game mechanic was really well incorporated into the story. I loved the writing for all the interactions with NPCs and the music really elevated the entire experience.
I was reading through the audience and judge reviews, and the only negative that I agree with for Out of Luck is that the exits were not well defined. There were points where I was just guessing which directions I could go in, but this did not hinder my enjoyment. I love this little game. The dice mechanic is so novel, it makes me wonder if it could be implemented and still be fun in a larger game.
