Plot
Just married! And I'm still not used to being Cally Baker rather than Marks. Mike and I bonded over our love of Italianate architecture. So for our honeymoon, where else to come but Italy to see the real thing? Tuscany is such a beautiful place to tour. On the way to our next hotel, we stopped at the little village of Belcarne. It's a lovely but unusual place, surrounded by walls with only one way out...
Belcarne is oddly un-touristy, with few shops and only one restaurant. That limited our meal choices - even more for me because I'm vegetarian! Almost everything on the menu is meat. Still, Mike says it's delicious, so at least he's happy. At the next table is a cheerful German hiker, Uli. We chat for a while, then he sets off, wishing us a happy honeymoon. We stay to watch the sunset, then Mike goes to the bathroom before we leave. I wait for him to come back. And keep waiting...
