Having attempted murder in your landlady's front garden in Edwardian London, you receive a private trial in the dining room. Enemies expose your wretched past: burglary, desertion, polygamy, murder...but you remember these incidents a bit differently...

The first Manalive game, constituting the first part of the book, did not impress me very much. It was confusing and difficult. I liked the second one much better, as it has better mechanics and wraps up the plot in a pleasant way.
On the other hand, the game is still rather finicky about commands, and has huge, huge text dumps directly from the novel.
If anything, the best parts of this game are those from the novel itself.

I'm interested in games that are straightforward adaptations of conventional books (probably novels, but I'd be interested to know if there are any non-fiction book adaptations). The ones that I know of are The Famous Five and The...
