About the Story

Dinner with Kai is tonight. He picked the place, made the reservation, and set three reminders so he wouldn't forget.

All you have to do is look up the address. Your phone gets as far as the search box and dies.

So Kai hands you his while he wanders off to finish getting ready.

It's unlocked. The restaurant is one search away. Then a message lights up the screen, and it has your name in it.

You have a few minutes before he wants it back. You could find the address, lock the phone, and hand it over. You could also keep browsing.

Borrowing Kai's Phone is a short epistolary story told entirely through someone else's phone. Every text, DM, meme, and voicemail transcript comes from a friend group that's been together since college. What you choose to open, and what you leave alone, decides how the night ends. Lock the phone when you're done.
