The game is super brief. For an interactive fiction, it seems very sparse and inadequate. I don't know if there's much content to it as I won with simple trick of brute force, and hence it may have spoiled so much. Nonetheless, it seems I checked out everything and indeed, there isn't much in the game other than a room and the stuff inside it.
The game logic is not tight. (Spoiler - click to show)I simply used the brute force method of taking all and a key appeared in my inventory. I tested it on cabinets and drawers, and it finally worked on the window. That's how I got the win.
This Ectocomp game (which had to be written in two hours) feels like the author ran out of time. It is set in a dark and brooding office of a physiognomist who is not present. It puts off a real abandoned hospital sort of vibe, like Mariel or One Eye Open.
Nothing much happens, though. There is just about one puzzle, and that puzzle is escaping. Once you do, the game is over. There were no NPCs as far as I can tell.
In a normal game, this would be off-putting, but SpeedIF is different. Taking your 2 hours to build a compelling setting is not a bad thing.
