I don't think the choices make much/any impact on the ending. (Spoiler - click to show)The twist ending was cute, but implausible.

All choices actually affect your performance (Spoiler - click to show)(two of those choices affect reaction time specifically, by adding to your actual, real-time reaction time) and thus your position (1-8). But, true, only the penultimate choice when you have the opportunity to withdraw, makes for a qualitatively different ending.
