Like many, I started out with Infocom. Around the turn of the century I got into programming and writing IF but moved on to other games before really accomplishing much. I am thrilled by the incredible diversity and range of games (and engines) available today. And a bit overwhelmed!
I play games to be entertained and challenged (but not stymied). I am agnostic as to parser versus menu-driven (or whatever other options there might be), as long as the format meets the needs of the story. I read very quickly and don't have nearly as much patience as I should.
I'm inclined not to review anything I can't appreciate, and I don't like to rate without reviewing (unless there are other reviews up that express my thoughts), so most of my ratings will be three stars and up. Three stars is where things start to get interesting; enough flaws to really dissect, yet good enough to make it worth discussing at all.
If I make a mistake, let me know so I can fix it. If I'm just wrong, feel free to tell me. I probably won't agree but we can have fun debating it!
