About the Story

Dream Zone sees the teenaged PC entering the surreal, cartoonish landscape of their dreams with the goal of kicking out the beast that's been giving them nightmares. The game was made for the Apple IIGS and later ported to the Amiga. Dream Zone can be played entirely by typing but supports all kinds of mouse shortcuts; clickable words and movement icons, object icons, clickable scenery, etc.

This text and graphics adventure was the first commercial release from Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin, who later set up Naughty Dog Software and developed Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Dexter, Uncharted et al. The soundtrack was composed by Sarah Sidman using Music Studio. Most locations in the game have their own musical themes.

SynTax
The music is quite pleasant but rather repetitive and soon got on my nerves but can fortunately be turned off. Location descriptions are fairly detailed and the problems are generally fairly logical and with a couple of exceptions not too difficult. If you have ever encountered Town Hall Bureaucracy you will appreciate the chase to get the papers required to get an I.D. card. This can be a little frustrating but once you have mastered the geography of the place it becomes fairly easy, but make sure you have pen and paper at hand.

Games featuring music by Karl Ove Hufthammer
I have always thought that music has a huge potential for enhancing IF, more so than graphics has. So what are the best examples of IF games that use music? Note that this poll does not include games with only sound effects; they have to...
