My thoughts on the game, January 29, 2026
by andrewj (Australia)

The title of the game intrigued me, and the introductory text was great and really got me interested in the story. As you probably have guessed (and I don't think I'm spoiling anything here) you do indeed get transported to a different place. But I was expecting something very exotic or alien, and was rather disappointed with the actual "dimension" on offer here.

While the writing is really good, and often great, even Garry's skills cannot save this game from the really old-school Scott-Adams-y aspects of the original game by Bonaventura Di Bello. There are several places where performing an action will kill you, and are (I believe) impossible to avoid until you know about it (Spoiler - click to show) e.g. pulling the lever. Plus a few puzzles which I needed to check the solution, and I doubt I would have solved them without it (Spoiler - click to show)e.g. I tend to never think to BREAK things, or DIG except in sand.

There is also a maze. (Spoiler - click to show)I thought it was unmappable due to the water, giving me unpleasant flashbacks to the horrendous catacombs in an Infocom game, but later I learnt you can drop items, making mapping it possible. While there was a way of navigating the maze, you'd be lucky to discover it.
