My primary interests are playing, writing and writing about text adventures or, if you prefer, parser-based interactive fiction.
The first adventure I bought was Scott Adams' Adventureland on cassette for the Atari 800. It took about 15-20 minutes to load, so I didn't turn the computer off for several days until I'd finished it. That led to a passion that has stayed with me for many years.
I formed an Adventure Special Interest Group in the Atari Computer Enthusiasts (NSW) and wrote an adventure column for Page 6 in the UK.
I have ported many adventures from various dialects of BASIC to various, platforms from mainframe to PC, and translated foreign-language adventures to English, especially type-ins from books and computer magazines. These were mostly for fun and are unpublished.
Nowadays, my adventure authoring language of choice is Inform 6 compiled for Z-code or Glulx interpreters. In 2019, I started dabbling with Adventuron and entered games in the first five Adventuron game jams. I am now starting to publish some of my Inform 6 games written using PunyInform or the Inform 6 standard library. All these games can be played or downloaded from my home page at https://warrigal.itch.io/.
I'm a contributor to the Classic Adventure Solutions Archive (CASA), several Facebook adventure groups, intfiction.org and (to a lesser extent) IFDB.
