I really liked this game when I first started. Finding a map in the attic sounds like a wonderful puzzle! Unfortunately, my curiosity got me stuck very early on and I had no idea how to progress. (Spoiler - click to show)I read a book from the bookshelf and was transported to a garden. I had no Idea how I had gotten there or how to get back. It was completely frustrating and disorienting. I am not sure I want to even try this game again, if this sort of thing is bound to happen. I like games that make logical sense and so far as I can tell, this one doesn't.

I had the same problem - one of the few criticisms I would make of this game is that that particular action is easy to figure out, but before you do it, you have to do something else, or, as you say, you get stuck.

I looked at the walkthrough and realised my mistake. Pretty much the first thing you need to do is (Spoiler - click to show)retrieve the key that you accidentally knocked down through the floorboards. This can be found in (Spoiler - click to show)the cellar, and can be got by (Spoiler - click to show)giving commands to the robot mouse. Once you have got it, you can (Spoiler - click to show)use it to open the door to the back garden, and only after that point should you use the book to go to Paris. For more details, see the walkthroughs attached to the page.

I see that this comment was written ten years ago, so you might have solved the problem/given up long ago! But I thought I'd write, because someone else might be struggling with it. I got so much enjoyment out of this game that I'd hate for anyone to miss out on after a difficult patch early on. Good luck!
