This was a great way to waste time on my companies HP 3000 after hours. I spent many a night explaining to my wife how I had to “work late”. This was, of course, 1980. There’s a Windows version that will run on a modern PC (sort of). The original was written in HP Fortran. HP Fortran supported recursive calls, standard Fortran didn’t. Some friends and I ported it to a Vax 780 in 1981. That allowed us to burn more hours than the game ever could! Great times!
