The Forgotten Nightmare
by Chris Radford profile
The Forgotten Nightmare is a parser-driven text adventure in three chapters, now brought together in a definitive desktop edition (and also playable as separate chapters on mobile). Built with a custom engine in the tradition of the early Scott Adams text games, it pairs classic IF interaction with a clean modern interface, an auto-drawing map, and a built-in hint system. No graphics, no soundtrack — just words and your imagination.
This Christian-themed story begins with an accident. An accident that leaves you, as the player, unable to recall not only where you are, but who you are as well. Awakening in an overturned van, suspended by your seatbelt, you must first figure out a way of escape. Once free to explore, you find yourself in a world that seems not only strangely empty, but openly hostile. As the story unfolds and your memory begins to return, you start to question whether these strange happenings are limited to the immediate area. If your experience of this small town reflects the state of the world, then things are certainly not as they used to be.
