The IFComp 2026 winner is a collection of familiar elements put together with polish and a well-paced rising sense of tension, concluding in a genuinely pulse-pounding finale. Like Lifeline, you're remotely communicating with a chatty NPC on a dangerous planet, who describes their surroundings and needs your instructions as they explore an overly tropey abandoned mining colony complete with fearsome windstorms to dodge, broken machinery to fix, and old log entries to collect. The extremely compelling gameplay carries it through some bland writing and somewhat nondescript characters. Exploration is fun, the scavenger has limited HP, so finding places to hide as storms approach is a real thrill.
