Bittersweet Jam, February 27, 2017

"Utopian Jam" is a small hypertext work of IF. I know, there have been a great deal of such games. But sometimes you don't need to do something radically new to create something beautiful. Sometimes, simplicity is the path to perfection.

Some people may find it too brief, too fleeting. There's a world hidden behind the words, of which we only see glimpses. Those who want solid exposition, backstory, etc... will probably find this story lacking.

Notice that I said "story", not "game". In a real sense, this is interactive fiction, a short story which unfolds throughout interaction. True, there is little branching here (I counted only two endings, and there aren't many real choices, but somehow that adds to the peaceful, "utopian" feel of the whole thing)

The only major flaw is that if you're not careful you find yourself looping through text you've already seen, and the repetition feels a little jarring for something which is otherwise a smooth experience.

It's short, it's sweet, it's sad, it's lovely. What more can I say?
