The game is clearly a labor of love. It's easy to get lost in this detailed cyberpunk noir if you want to, but the plot strikes a fine balance between not being boring and not being confusing. Visuals, music, everything fits well together as far as creating an atmosphere.
The coding and mechanics are, unfortunately, less stellar. Fights can be a repetitive save-load tango if you don't know what affects what, and it's not obvious (but I enjoyed it, both before and after the rework). On one of my playthroughs I found myself stuck in an error loop on the tram and had to abandon the entire run. Another time I found a vital consumable to suddenly jump up 100x in price with no discernible reason or explanation. For that reason I am regrettably giving it only four stars.
It's still a very impressive game and I heartily recommend it to cyberpunk fans.
While I quite enjoyed playing this game I am leaving two stars off. Firstly while the game is easy enough to play, I would have liked to have seen instructions covering how to read the stats. Secondly I also enountered a couple of bugs where selecting particular actions resulted in error messages.
Players should also be aware of a very tight item limit. I got caught out by this and had to restart.
This is the first Twine novel (yes novel) That I have read and it sets a very high standard. The world building has been done really well with a fully thought out consistant background and an impressive codex linked to key words in the text.
Whilst mostly linear it has enough flexibility to adjust the story and add flavor. I highly recommend this game and the only reason it is not five stars is a handful (I found two) dead ends, for a beta that's pretty good.
