As soon as I started reading I was reminded of writers like Charlotte Perkins Gilman and Mary Wollstonecraft, and I'm pleased to say that this story sits comfortably alongside these writers. I particularly enjoyed the narrator's wry sense of humour found in the marginalia of the text. The story is well paced in terms of build of suspense and intrigue is measured in such a way that makes for a satisfying read.
With its delivery of story revealed through breadcrumbs of pages strewn about the story-world, I couldn't help thinking this is what it would be like if Charlotte Perkins Gilman wrote Myst!
Although some plot points I did guess or were predictable, how they were realised was satisfying.
