Maybe better as something simpler or static?, June 27, 2013
by Jizaboz (U.S.A.)

I gave this game a shot when it appeared in the recent stuff here on IFDB today. I've played maybe 1 Twine game before this one. I'm partial to parser-IF, but some point-and-click games I've played were pretty fun, and all of them are very accessible.

There doesn't seem to be any real point for this one being interactive though. The questions (Spoiler - click to show)only have one correct response. I guessed the first two questions wrong, and it was then obvious why those were the wrong responses. With the routine finished, I end up with (Spoiler - click to show)Do I still have my money left because I didn't spend it on prescription drugs TRUE/FALSE? and that's it.

I believe I get the "point" of this release, as far as what it's trying to get across.. but why try to use a fancy interactive interface for this? There aren't even a lot of words here.

However, I would have given this 1 and 1/2 stars if I could for not having any typo and implementation errors.

OK, I went back and replayed the game.

Getting through the interview and into the part where things start getting weird took me all of one minute. That's including one time where I gave the wrong answer to a question and had to restart.

Sure, you could argue that the game is cruel for giving you a game over when you answer a question wrongly (and, perhaps more importantly, for not giving you a hint that a different answer will open up a much bigger story). However, I'd expect reviewers to play for more than one minute before giving a one-star rating.

I also replayed it today. This time, I purposely entered the choices I did not want to enter, assuming what was the correct response. My first go around some time ago I did spend more than "one minute" playing, but flat out refused to enter choices I did not want enter and that's what held me back from seeing the rest.

The story though once things "get weird" just seemed like random words mixed with text tricks and references to (Spoiler - click to show)transexuals. It just feels like some artistic mess I'm rapidly reading and clicking through, and I suppose I just can't relate to it or find it enjoyable at all because of this.

I did find it slightly more interesting though than the begging-themed game by the same author.

Not trying to sound rude, but did you actually get to the VR simulation part of the story? Because your review only covers the initial interview.
