The presentation is well done and crisp. I played in dark mode. I liked the layout. The writing is good.
The game describes itself as an "Erotic political thriller". And it's tempting to talk about it in the context of real-world politics' descent into censorship. But I'm not!
I found the game compelling, bizarre and satirical all the same time. It's a game where you're never at all sure where it will go next. That's a good thing, otherwise it would far less interesting.
The whole idea of people exploding at the sight of naked flesh is wildly bizarre in itself. But that isn't the weirdest part. The weirdest part, and cleverest, is the juxtaposition of different levels of satire mixed with eroticism.
(Spoiler - click to show)Like there'd be an apparel store selling Hazmat suits and also skirts and sexy underwear!
You wake up and somehow order a breakfast delivery before noticing you've suddenly changed into a woman!
The story has a "stack-popping" nature, whereby various "worlds" are popped, rather like waking from a series of nested dreams. At first, you're a male cop. Then suddenly a woman, then finally you're in a version of the real world looking back your former self as an avatar.
But maybe they weren't different worlds, because how is it you're recognised as Harold the cop after turning into a woman. Is it in your mind?
I found many choices worked more like options than meaningful branches. Some were glorified continue buttons. But that tends to be the case in Twine works. I would have still liked to see a bit more branching.
The political part of the story, i felt, was somewhat weaker in concept. It seemed to me the standard betrayal power-grab trope. But, fascinatingly, this time defeated by a weaponised erotic display.
But reading more carefully, i realised the meeting with the Prime Minister was a virtual one. So did Bradbury really explode? And why wasn't he able to block the display. Perhaps he did. Maybe it's deeper and there's a hook there.
The final closing sequence, the game pops the stack one time too many, and consequently goes through the fourth wall.
Definitely a good game. Well done.
