I know it's supposed to be a joke, but..., July 30, 2011by John Daily (New York) From the accompanying README: "You could imagine a game where the winning conclusion is reached by typing GO NORTH 1,000,001 times in a row, and every time but the 1,000,001st, the response to GO NORTH is "You can't go that way." (It wouldn't be a very fun game, but it's still a possible game.) If an automated winnability evaluator were given a limit of a million turns, it would incorrectly call the state unwinnable. John Daily, July 30, 2011 - Reply The start of the game only gives you this: "You are in a small room with no visible exits. You must escape!" As there are 10 different potential directions (n,s,e,w,se,ne,sw,nw,u,d) in which to go, and 1,000,001 times typing the same direction (based on the readme), that means a possible 10,000,010 times typing directions, just to see if it's winnable. In other words, I'm not that patient! As a concept, it's mildly interesting. As a puzzle, not as much. I did give it a go for a while though. :) |
