About the Story

As you leave the Main Hall, you come upon a tall strong man with a beard who carries a wicked broad sword. He says he is lord Hobart, and was the rightful owner of the Castle of Valkenburg before the evil sorcerer Draxnehr conquered it 20 years ago. The castle now holds many monsters who have occupied it for the last two decades.

Lord Hobart says to you, "I will pay you to defeat the evil lich that now lurks there, and rid the castle of its monsters."

This adventure is part of the Eamon universe. Like all Eamon adventures, it is an RPG-style game, mostly using a two-word parser. Because Eamon is a modular system, you may bring a character and equipment from other adventures into this one.

This Eamon has a number of problems: First, the room descriptions use very confusing wording, making it very difficult to figure out where the named exits are. All of the descriptions begin with the article "A", which spoils the narrative. There are a staggering number of spelling errors. And there are about a half-dozen death traps, though you'll probably only be killed once before you learn to recognize them.
