About the Story

Hypochondriac (also named in the source code as Outcast) was a private experiment with ZIL by Tomas Bok, then a tester at Infocom, who also, with Dave Anderson and Jeff O'Neill, worked on a separate internal spoof game called Zok (the name being a mix of 'Zork' and 'Bok').

In 2019, its source code was discovered in the USR directory of the Infocom Drive by Adam Sommerfield, and compiled into a working game file. After some discussion of the proprieties of publishing this private experiment, the original author Tom Bok emerged and gave some context.
