Recommendations by Lance Cirone (Backwater, Vermont)
A few of my favorite IF games that just need more love. Some of these are particularly deep cuts, but they're all high quality and worth a playthrough.
1. Best of Three by Emily Short (2001) Average member rating: (60 ratings)
Lance Cirone says:
While Emily Short is one of the most prolific authors on the site, I barely hear about Best of Three. It's a very contemplative game with great writing.
2. Pytho's Mask by Emily Short (2001) Average member rating: (69 ratings)
Lance Cirone says:
If you liked Best of Three, try this one out. Way more fantastic and romantic, but it left an impression on me.
3. Lazy Wizard's Guide by Lenard Gunda (2022) Average member rating: (14 ratings)
Lance Cirone says:
One of the more recent entries on this list, Lazy Wizard's Guide is a puzzlefest full of versatile magic and unique NPCs.
4. Ghost, by beecadee (2021) Average member rating: (1 rating) Lance Cirone says:
As of writing this, I think I'm the only person to have played this one. It's a fun, open game with some entertaining spooky business.
5. In a Manor of Speaking, by Hulk Handsome (2012) Average member rating: (26 ratings) Lance Cirone says:
Nord and Bert is a somewhat infamous game for its inconsistent quality and theming, and In a Manor of Speaking feels like a more focused version of it. This one's incredibly silly and loaded with puns.
