Big, difficult games that I always return to.

Recommendations by calindreams (Birmingham, England)

Maybe I'm a masochist. I'm not very good at puzzles and I've got the attention span of a gnat. But for some reason I'm always drawn to big difficult games. I like games where you have a lot room to explore and you don't get stuck in one place. Often I work out the solution to one puzzle while working on another.

Here's some games that, more or less, fit this description. Most of these I haven't completed, but it's always a pleasure to the worlds they create.

Explore a house brimming with puzzles from moderate to advanced difficulty. Just the first few rooms have enough challenges to constitute a game in itself. And I haven't begun to scratch the surface.

Don't be put off by Andy Phillips' reputation. It's all true. His games are ridiculously difficult, often unfair. Some people don't enjoy his writing style. I do. I find his puzzles interesting and his stories quite exciting.

Try all his games, you might be really glad you did. He has his fans too. Inside Woman is said to be one of his less unfair games, puzzle-wise.

Old-school style adventure game set in Hell. A large map with plenty to do. A nice variety of puzzles with varying difficulty.
