Review

A solid game, just not for me, November 2, 2026

(This is an edited version of the review I posted on the forum)

This game was a decent diversion, but personally I found it a little unsatisfying. The puzzles were okay but didn’t stand out, and it wasn’t fleshed out enough to be that interesting to me narratively. I would have enjoyed a lot more explanation of the background context (I suspect the game relies on the player knowing certain details about the Indiana Jones movie for certain details to make sense, and I only saw that movie once as a teenager and remember almost nothing about it), more of the main character’s personal motivations, perhaps some more exploration of the ancient Nabatean society or its hypothetical futuristic counterpart… a lot of things caught at me while I was playing that I was disappointed not to be able to learn more about.

Mechanically I felt that having certain events fully reset whenever you left the room felt a little silly. Even just having a couple turns of cooldown before you can try again would have made it feel more realistic.

I also got soft-locked at one point and had to revert to a previous save (if you take the emerald and put it back before creating the second portal, most things appear to go back to normal, but the guard still searches you whenever you pass, making it impossible to get the pipe past), and it wasn’t clear to me if allowing this to happen was an intentional design decision or not.
