About the Story

This mobile ‘interactive fiction meets scavenger hunt’ sends players on a walk through town to perform certain tasks to ward off a coming alien invasion. They get sent off with small materials like a piece of chalk and a bit of rope and will add to each others ‘art’ – by drawing a part of a chalk drawing at a certain point in the city they will make the city more playful and ward off the aliens as well – IF that threat is indeed real. Can the mysterious voice be trusted?

Save the World was first made for the Playful Arts festival in Den Bosch (NL) and then got commissioned in new versions by the Game Happens festival (Genova, Italy), W00t festival (Kopenhagen, Denmark) and the cities of Utrecht and Lelystad (N). The game strives to ask social questions and stimulate art in public spaces, through a simple interactive story that takes people on a very personal journey.

From the Author

This game was first made for the Playful Arts festival in 2014. After that it's gotten more versions for different cities. At the moment there's Den Bosch and Utrecht (the Netherlands) and Kopenhagen (Denmark) and more cities will follow in the future. The game lets you walk through the city but it's fun to go through it at home as well.
