About the Story

A Twine-built, text-only, interactive adventure in which the reader takes the guise of Oedipus from Greek legend—Oedipus, the accursed prince who inadvertently fulfills a grotesque prophecy by trying to avoid it.

Oedipus Nix is breezy, conversational, and told with good-natured dark humour. The game takes between a quarter and a half-hour, depending on the route taken.

Although the reader is tasked with finding a route through the story that will lead poor Oedipus away from his tragic destiny, there really is no way to win or lose the game. All fifteen endings—those happy (relatively speaking), those tragic, and those really tragic— have a unique charm!
