Project Tezerat is a video game that aims to recreate the feeling of a pulp magazine fantasy story in the sword-and-sorcery or heroic fantasy vein. The ultimate aim of the player character (hero) is to reach the city of Tezerat, where (s)he will fight and defeat the wizard Khanddar.
To reach their ultimate goal, the player will have to go through another predefined four cities, each separated by a number of randomly generated “wilderness” areas.
Outside the cities, the player will be subjected to interactions with enemies, NPCs’ and nature itself. There will be a variable chance for finding loot, improving oneself or the weapon you hold. There will also be some risks involved, but overall, this will be the best opportunity to learn about this fantastic world.
Between the city walls, where civilisation rules, the world will feel different. The player will have access to an arena, where he will be able to fight for money, an inn, where they will be able to rest and recharge, a shop where they can sell any excess loot and three guilds (thief, warrior and mage), that they can go on a quest for. Before leaving the city, you can also duel with a champion of the local ruler (that usually lives in a tower).
=====================================================================================
Project Tezerat is still in its alpha stage, so there are a lot of elements still missing. Please, be patient and we'll get there, eventually.
The game is different from most (if not all) other RPG's because it will require you to mainly focus on your reading abilities, not on your mathematical ones. The entire mechanical/mathematical system is hidden from view, but is represented through text.
= What is in place =
* Areas *
Eight different procedurally generated area types. In the future, each area will spawn its own monsters
Cities have a different set of rules from the wilderness. Right now you can’t do much there.
Four sub-areas (prison, temple, tower, mausoleum), two of which have mini-games
* NPC's *
A traveling merchant - will sell you items at a variable cost
A temple courtesan - be careful with this one!
A mercenary - will fight your opponent for a little while, then he'll run away
A smith - he'll improve your blade and make it as sharp as possible, or fail miserably and ruin your blade
A gambler - will play a game called "The Three Pyramids" with you
* Weapon *
Every time you use it, there's a chance that the edge will get damaged. A dull blade will do less damage. For now, your blades won't break from overuse.
* Items *
Coins - cash, money, GP, currency, etc.
Healing potion - it heals you
Sharpening stone - it improves the damage your weapon does
Martial arts scroll - it makes you more able to wield your weapon
* Enemies *
15 enemies distributed equally in 5 tiers.
* Actions and activities *
Sneak away - if there is an enemy in the area you might have to sneak away
Fight - I guess this one is pretty clear
Steal - if there is an enemy in the area you might want to try and steal the items he's guarding
= What's not here, yet? =
Mini games for the tower and the prison
An encounter with the final boss
A very barbaric soundtrack to keep you entertained while you roam the world
A lot of the atmospheric descriptions of the areas that you can visit
A custom made battle system (right now it’s all chance and no skill)
Stealing and sneaking dependent on skills (right now they depend on chance)
An interface design that will make the game more accessible to people with visual impairment
= Known bugs =
None that I know of!
