Brick by Brick is a short piece of interactive fiction following an anchorite who refuses the call of their god at the last possible moment. This was made for the Neo-Twiny Jam 2025 and comes in at a little under 500 words. (This includes all the repetition.) Brick by Brick was made so that I could teach myself some more basics. The game is made in Twine and the photograph used in the cover image is my own.
To keep the formatting ideal on mobile, turn your phone sideways/landscape. It also loses a tiny thematic element toward the end when in mobile, but it's not really a big deal.
Thanks for playing/reading!
Entrant - Neo-Twiny Jam 2025
You're slowly laying bricks. It's not just an ordinary choice. The choices in the bricklaying process are shown in the form of concrete (heh heh) poetry. Still, after a while, frustration starts to build, as shown in the concrete poem you are slowly writing through your choices. The idea and overall effect is pretty cool.
I played this game on mobile, so I might have missed that last surprise mentioned in the description. Anyway, as per recommendation, I played on landscape mode.
