MVTA is short for "minimum viable text adventure".
Ostensibly this is the story of "you" the player and your first day in a new job. It has an internal time system that limits playing time to a single working day.
Your goal is to achieve as much as possible (and survive) through the day and you can check your stats as you play.
The location is loosely based on a real company, real office and historically real people but the plot is far from real.
Many of the activities involve interaction with other characters in the game.
Where the game differs from most interactive fiction is with a dynamic "affinity system". Game characters may or may not appreciate your actions and will respond appropriately. For example; it's possible (with some work) to turn hostile characters friendly and vice versa. Further clues can be found within the game itself.
Whilst this is largely a normal "slice of life" type game, there's multiple opportunities for amusement and a plot thread with some dark humour that develops as you complete tasks and explore the envionment more deeply including many hidden bonus easter egg type tasks to allow for repeat plays to maximise your stats and score.
It contains a couple of instances of very mild swearing and (depending on your play style, mild to moderate violence)
This is my first IF game, written with a custom game engine from scratch.
The game recognizes most normal IF style actions e.g. <verb><object> plus occasional <verb><object><with/in/on/under etc><object> and quite a few extra - but common usage - verbs (~200 supported).
The game offers some dynamic (if limited) dialogue activities when interacting with NPCs (clues on interaction are offered within the game).
The game is still under active development but should provide a couple of hours of challenging exploration and gameplay.
Whilst a lot of work has gone in so far, some locations aren't quite fully furnished (or had full sensory definitions added) and the 2 diverging plot arcs still need to be developed to their conclusions.
(If there's any real gameplay issues, quality problems or bugs, feedback is very welcome)
