Amazing mystery game, July 25, 2026

I am really fascinated by this game, and love the subtle procedure it offers to lead step by step to the final conclusion. The writing feels so natural, engaging and comfortably humorous. The character names and the relationship between the NPCs are also rather interesting. Nice use of twine as well. But I am really bewildered by the fact that the second mystery, i.e. (Spoiler - click to show)the motive behind Mort's killing is not fully reveiled in the end, and I am eager to know more about it. Here is my guessing of the plot of the second mystery and I would be very glad if other players or the game's maker could confirm/deny it or share their thoughts on it. The guessing will contain full spoilers to the whole plot of the game. Note that I am not a native English speaker, do not live in the US where the story seems to take place, and may not fully understand the picture due to language/cultural reasons:

(Spoiler - click to show) Annie has a daughter named Lexa (her name begins with Le- and probably ends with -xa judging from the petition for the plaque), who is friends with Terry, Justin, and probably Erin. The Erin-looking tomboy in the photo with teenaged Terry, "Erin" and Lexa is actually Justin. Justin is a transboy and when he was still presenting as a girl he mistakened himself for a lesbian, which is commmon in trans people. He dated Lexa to Annie's frustration, therefore the orange burning letter in Erin's mind, but Annie finally acknowledged this relationship, amended her friendship with Justin, and went to Pride Parade with him. Justin cuts ties with his family probably because his parents refused to recognize his trans identity, and he dyed his hair from blonde (presumably) to black in order to completely disconnect with his former self, but Erin acknowledges his transition and still wants to share a sibling bond with him. Mort did something bad to Lexa after this, either seduced Lexa to "cure" her lesbianism, or maybe reported this relationship to Annie. Whatever he did caused Lexa to attempt suicide on 11/14, more than a decade ago, by a certain amount of fatal medicine purchased from Bram probably without Bram knowing her motives, hence the stolen 24 dollars from her mother's memory and the money in Bram's memory. She fell into a coma or other hopeless situation after this for more than 10 years until Annie (maybe) finally decided to give her non-voluntary euthanasia a few days before the events of the game. Terry has been harbouring resentment for Mort since Lexa's suicide and finally decided to kill him after Lexa's death and Mort's unbearable decision to put up a memorial of Lexa against her will took place. After Lexa's suicide Terry dates Justin and they eventually married. The reason Terry cheats on Justin probably has something to do with all these ghosts from the past.

The main problem with this story I cracked from the pieces is that

(Spoiler - click to show) I couldn't figure out what Mort did to Lexa. And how wouldn't he know that Justin and Erin were siblings if he knew about the whole "lesbian relationship" and Lexa's suicide?

I think that there are something fundamentally wrong in all my reasoning and I would be very glad if someone could correct me on it after all those years with the game.

Overall, I really enjoy the game and would definitely recommend anyone interested in twine games, mystery, mind puzzles and a bit of dark humour playing it.
