The Bengali was what I was most interested in, and I was thoroughly disappointed.

The transliteration is egregious. I had first thought that our character was speaking in some dialect, but no. He just spontaneously starts spouting nonsense whenever he opens his mouth.

The translation is also unnatural. Looks like you used Google translate for most things. Calling a bank, "taka poysha jomanor jayga" was just funny. It's just 'bank'.

Also, the pronunciation 'guide' or whatever is way too long, to the point where you have to read a whole page worth of convincingly confident and terribly inaccurate spiel just for a line of awkward Bengali.

Then, there's the grammar and spelling slips, which were too frequent to ignore. Something was going on with the story, but I couldn't care enough to notice.

Halfway through, the game throws me an error. A missing if conditional, or something. I couldn't even finish the game.

Overall, this just feels like it had the minimum amount of effort put in to be able to call it an IF.

Oh, I'm surprised it was the Bengali that lured you in. I admit, I was translating random stuff to push myself to really engage with my language again, hence the overly complicated translation of bank.

It seems like I might have to revise this game again. I pushed out an update FOR the spelling and grammar mistakes.

If you don't mind, can tell me what part you were up to when you encountered the error? If not, it's all good. Thanks for commenting.

Yup, hi. It's right after we meet our Hyphaean buddy, when we enter our apartment for the first time. I tried multiple routes getting there but all of them give me the same error.

And yes, I was interested in the Bengali, since learning 'random Bengali phrases' was part of the pitch on your blurb. I wouldn't have raised such an issue with this if the language learning aspect wasn't brought up to be a highlight.

Also, I'd recommend passing by whatever you write with a Bengali speaker of atleast B2 proficiency, if you want to keep that in here.

Trying to re-engage with your language is commendable, but here's a protip: don't use any translation services. Instead of translating stuff in English to Bengali, try to think how you would say it in Bengali, direct.

This means, dictionaries are awesome. When you can't think of a word in English, or there's a synonym that's barely on your mind's edge, you don't go to Google translate to type in the French equivalent. You search it up, in English, trying to describe the word you're looking for.

Do the same for Bengali. Or, whatever language you're trying to learn. (Of course, this only works if you have atleast a barebones understanding of the language already, like A2, so it may or may not work for you)

Good luck! Aside from the fact that the game is currently impossible to finish, the story was decent for what I could read of it.

Thanks for telling me where you found the error. That makes editing easy for me.

And thanks for the advice, but I should clarify that the translations were a genuine effort on my part. l did try to break down what stuff like ‘bank’ would mean literally.

I have been meaning to revise the description of the game. The Bengali was just a fun exercise for me; the horror was supposed to take front and center.

I'm glad you found the story alright! Have a good day.
