Zair wakes up wearing two marks — one from Cael, one from a hunter who lives where the gardens turn wild. The chaos constellation is learning what "staying" actually means. Loki is trying not to bolt. Cole is trying to burn without destroying. And somewhere in the palace, a boy named Ellis arrives who can't feel anything anymore.

Meanwhile: Eidolon loosens his grip. Cassian starts orbiting beyond the center. Ansel lets the sovereign see him. Felix discovers what it's like to receive instead of give. And Hunter — the boundary, the edge, the one who catches things — walks into the palace for the first time and has to decide whether he can survive being part of something.
