About the Story

The title "Kaland" only means "Adventure" in Hungarian (as the other title, "A vér meséi", means: "The Tales of the Blood"). Written by Robert Olessak in 1997-2001. This is not a game, but only an empty preview/demo version of an abandoned and unfinished adventure gaming system called TAPLO. It would have been an extremely sophisticated and capable realtime text/graphic adventure system, with a perfectly optimized x86 Assembly code and several years full-time development, but unfortunately, had never been finished. It would have worked in English and in Hungarian in parallel (realtime/runtime switchable), in a network with an unlimited number of actual players (like a MUD), and a record-large artificial universe planned (a game called as "The Tales of the Blood"). The original source code is also there; it was compiled with MASM (Microsoft Assembler). Maybe, if you are a very talented programmer, and you have got very much sparetime, you could try to dissolve and understand, then continue it; maybe it would probably be a far too difficult job for anyone. You may do absolutely anything to the material published here, as it is under Public Domain license. (I only ask you to note me in this case!) MS-DOS executable (also can be run natively under Windows in most cases; but not always). Most recommended to be run in DOS Box.
