The Operating Systems and Interpreters that IFDB knows about are listed below. Click on an item to see its details.
Some of the systems in the list have been released in numerous versions. The versions that IFDB distinguishes are listed with each system; if a system is listed without any versions, IFDB considers all versions of that system to be equivalent. Within a major system group, we assume that each newer version is backward-compatible with earlier versions: for example, we assume that Windows XP runs applications compatible with Windows NT 4, ME, and so on. When a new version isn't fully backward compatible, we consider it a separate system: for example, we treat Mac OS X as a separate OS from Mac OS 9 and earlier.
Interpreters are mixed in with Operating Systems in this list because the two perform a similar function - they're both run-time platforms, and they both have download instructions associated with them. Our interpreter list isn't exhaustive; we generally only list interpreters that handle more than one file format, because these have download information that's shared among multiple OS/file-type combinations.
