Quotient, The Game - Holiday Release!
December 17, 2024
This update adds a "song" associated with each room. You can see the song by simply typing "song" while in a room, or you can see your custom playlist at anytime by typing "playlist" and it will show you the songs associated with all of the rooms you have visited in the order in which they were visited. There's also a new command "fun" to point you to some fun asides (like the song and playlist features). You'll see the fun command in the updated help. There were other minor conversational updates.
This is just a "fun" feature and you don't need it to play or win the game... the books this game is based on have Spotify playlists with a song for each chapter, and the title is often embedded in the text of the chapter somewhere.
Happy Holidays, feedback always appreciated!
The "Really Sort of Final" version is out!
November 21, 2024
I seem to enjoy continually enhancing and adding features to this game. I called this version 108.rsf since it is the "really sort of final" version. One of the more visible enhancements is "bold" font for directions, making it easier to pick out your exits from the text. There are several subtle improvements, like adding first-time views of some locations to more accurately represent their reality, and other minor scenery improvements/additions. I also added "inanimate listeners" so you can ask the TARDIS computer questions. I added more dialog to improve the story context provided by the NPCs. Finally, I updated the scoring system to be better in line with what the player is doing. (There is a points command to explain the scoring)
I even provided a full map with spoilers for those interested in those sorts of things!
Enjoy, feedback is always welcome!

Quotient, The Game... Release 1.0! (or Version 108)
October 22, 2024
Ok, I'm officially out of beta. Do you want to be a spy? Join Quotient, the quantum-powered, independent spy agency. Play this Zork inspired, tongue-in-cheek, spy game where you gather treasures and help Professor Eaton with her time experiment. It's a large world, with classic IF puzzles and lots of popular culture fun. Described as exuberant and silly in an early release review... it is now exuberant, silly, and fun. Get hints from the silly "ChatGPT11" based quantum computer. Based on the more serious spy novel The Quantum Contingent and it's soon to be release sequel, Quantum Time, explore regions as various as Ohio, Oxford, Ethiopia and Outer Space, just to name a few. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

September 17, 2024
With this major update, the game is now more engaging than ever! The characters have gotten much more conversational and help the player advance through the game. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
New Release!
September 12, 2024
Thanks to my first Beta Tester, and first Reviewer, I have a new release out! This one addresses many beta test findings, as well as some items noted in the review, such as the scoring bug, and ensuring there are clear clues available for the "guess the verb" puzzles. No guessing required if you find the clues.
I'm also working to address the First Timer Foibles in more detail. I've addressed 2 and 9... not sure 14 is much of a problem, but will check. The next release will focus on plot advancement, primarily through 15. (I've added a "show", in addition to the pre-existing ask and talk commands, but still lots of opportunity here to do more!)
Keep the feedback coming, and I'll keep polishing this exuberant, silly game.
Greg
