In this children's adventure story, you play as a King's Knight. For fifty years, the Alabaz Archipelago has been shrouded in a thick gray mist that no ship can navigate through. But now, King Alexander himself has found a magic pearl that may be the key to breaking the curse. Your quest, brave knight, is to take this pearl and your new ship, the Dauntless, and discover the lost islands of Alabaz.
In this game, you play as a brawny adventurer heroically rescuing a fair maiden from a fire-breathing dragon. Oops, sorry, no, that was just a dream. You're actually an out-of-shape drunken lout. But then King Alfie proclaims that Princess Rosebud has been abducted by a dastardly dragon and that whoever rescues her will gain half the kingdom and her hand in marriage! Wow. Will you make the attempt to win the princess? Or will you go have another pint in the tavern? It's a tough choice.
In this adaptation of JG Ballard's short story The Terminal Beach, you play as Traven, an emaciated man haunted by the deaths of his wife and son. Traven has made his way to Eniwetok, the island where the H-bomb was tested and which he will now slowly explore. Note that despite the bugs, instadeaths, and textdumps, this story is finishable.
4. Toonesia, by Jacob Weinstein (1995) Average member rating: (20 ratings) David Welbourn says:
In this short parody of Warner Bros. cartoons, you play as Elmo Fuld, millionaire. You want to shoot Bud Bunny for dinner, but he's dumped you in this bare cell and hidden your gun somewhere else. Oooh, that rascally rabbit!
5. Channel Surfing, by Mike Vollmer (2008) Average member rating: (8 ratings) David Welbourn says:
You play as someone who's supposedly consented to test an experimental television, but you don't really remember anything about your prior life. The "box" you wake up in has nothing in it except the television, a table and chair, a remote control, a letter, a post-it note, and you. Ready to do some channel surfing?
6. Jack's Adventures, by Dan Shiovitz (1998) Average member rating: (4 ratings) David Welbourn says:
In this extremely short one-room demo game, you play as Jack Winklebee, an aspiring hero in Fairyland. You've traded your cow for some magic beans, a trowel, and a magic watering can. Now it's time to find out what these magic beans do.
