Spring Thing 2024

Spring Thing, also known as the Autumnal Jumble, focuses on bringing together new text games of all kinds: choice-based stories, gamebooks, hypertext fictions, visual novels, text adventures, narrative roguelikes, and wild new experiments.

Main Festival entries can be nominated for an overall Best In Show ribbon; the top two nominees each year win a Best in Show ribbon to display by their game. All entries can be nominated for a custom Audience Award that can be anything the nominator likes: “Best Story,” “Best Parser Game,” “Personal Favorite,” “Alumni's Choice,” “Cutest Vampires”... you get the idea.

Main Festival games can be nominated for a "Best in Show" 'ribbon', and (unrelatedly) are eligible for prizes.

Back Garden

Back Garden games don't participate in "Best in Show" voting and prizes, but have looser restrictions on entry.

New Game Plus

A subcategory of the Back Garden for previously-released works that have been either ported to a substantially different system, or have been significantly expanded.
