About the Story

As you near the front yard of the large, old victorian house, you feel an unexplainable tension. A small voice whispers inside your head "Open the door and step inside, if you dare..."

Upon entering, the door closes and locks behind you. Inside the house lies murder and mystery — it's up to you to solve them.

Who is the killer and what are his motives? Where does the secret passageway lead to? Who is dropping these curious notes?

And, who will be the next victim... If you are not careful, it could be you? You cannot leave the property until you bring the killer to justice.

Turn the knob and walk in to Mystery House. Someone is waiting for you!

Baf's Guide

Sierra On-Line's first game, and, according to their press releases, the world's first graphic adventure. This game was released into the public domain on Sierra's seventh anniversary. Somehow, it hasn't weathered as well as Adventure and Zork. The graphics are crude, and the parser is substandard even for its time. Still, it's interesting to see where the Sierra empire got started. It's a bloody little story involving a search for jewels in an old house. It has a lot in common with The Colonel's Bequest - well, there's far less plot and characterization, but there's about as many deaths, including your own at unexpected moments. Contains an outdoor maze and one crucial early puzzle with a time limit.
