Favorite "atmosphere" games

Recommendations by MathBrush

These are games that are fun because of the atmosphere and plot more than the puzzles. These games are not too hard and not too easy. They generally have a big over-arching theme. I have included most horror and comedy games in other lists, as this list is more about wonder.

The PC in A Colder Light is a girl, not a boy. That's stated explicitly: "the bear came here, not because of the cooking, but to see its daughter once more."

Assuming your reference to "inappropriate language" in Photopia has to do with Rob's cursing, that hasn't been part of the game since the original comp release. None of the current versions (Z-code 1.30, Glulx 2.01, and the upcoming 3.00) contain it.

That's good to know! I've only played it on Frotz, which has some older versions of a lot of games. I'll change my description.
