About the Story

Your family is known to be expert language keepers in your village. Your specialty is an ancient, dead language called Ixteesh. You never thought it would be useful for much of anything, but then you are summoned to the city many days away. Something has been found and someone who knows Ixteesh is needed.

Now, you have been sent on this errand and you'll soon learn there is danger in this task.

Lab of Jizaboz
Pretty cool game overall.

There is a good framework here. Everything in the room descriptions can be examined, and there are sensible responses to most actions involving them. The world-building is intriguing, it doesn't feel like generic Dungeons & Dragons...

The Breakfast Review
The worldbuilding is thorough ... and absorbing. Like I said, I got a bit of a Robert E. Howard vibe from that sense of ancient empires and fallen civilisations. One almost expects a sequel involving Conan the Barbarian.

Renga in Blue
This is ambitious: there’s all sorts of NPCs to interact with, including major action scenes where they try to kill you.

Club Floyd
I feel like this game is an improvement on past MTW games, though I'm having trouble putting my finger on why.

A three-act fantasy game with a big cast of characters, November 17, 2017

I beta tested this game.

This game casts you as a translator of ancient languages in a fantasy world. It's split up into three acts: a tense moment on a boat, a fight in a town, and a climactic finale in an archaelogical dig.

The overall story, the characters, etc. are all well-drawn. But the game is so big that more needs to be filled-in; more responses to synonyms and commands, more conversational topics, more alternate puzzle solutions.

Best parser games since 2017 by Rovarsson
When browsing for good recent games, I'm overwhelmed by the amount of Twine and Choice games. Add to that a great number of games with five stars and only one rating, many of which are also, yes, Twine and Choice games, it gets difficult...
