The Obscene Quest of Dr. Aardvarkbarf

About the Story

The story so far: You were a undergraduate in Temporal Physics until a dalliance involving a stolen time machine and cheap champagne got you expelled. Now you work as an assistant to Dr. Bignose, chair of the Temporal Physics Department. Although today's Saturday, he called you at the ungodly hour of noon to do a teeny-weeny favor: come onto campus and deliver an envelope to Dr. Aardvarkbarf. He's sure it won't take too long.

Baf's Guide

You're a former university student, wandering around the campus feeling sorry for yourself because you've gotten kicked out. There's not much more to it than that--the game hints at a sequel, but it was never produced. Lots of bugs, lots of irrelevant puzzles and objects, lots of strange game design choices, and generally just not much fun. The writing is competent, and I suppose if you share the author's pathological hatred for universities, you may identify with the character, but otherwise this one probably isn't worth your time.

OQDA is a fairly enjoyable college game (with a minor time travel motif) which kept me pretty entertained for the two hours I played it. Of course, this is not to say that the game doesn't have its problems. It certainly does: there are many spelling and grammar errors (though not as many as in Phred Phontious and the Quest for Pizza) and some bugs are definitely still in the game... Also, there are several elements about OQDA's narrative strategies that I found rather grating... Still, with some polishing this game could be an enjoyable vignette.

Not obscene, but a campus exploration game, July 1, 2017

This is a mid-length game that has you trying to find, then deliver, a letter to Dr. Aardvarkbarf.

The game has a fairly large campus. Puzzles mostly focus on examining items, and physical things such as PUSH and PULL.

The game is clever, but the map is large and many things aren't clued to well. Nothing about it really stuck out.
