If You Had One Shot, by Wade Clarke, Victor Gijsbers, Hanon Ondricek, Brian Rushton

Only one choice with no possibilitie to replay the game., August 13, 2023

This is a one choice game dislike another previous ones. You can only play the game once, then it will lock and become unplayable. Another good experiment by Mathbrush and his crew.

I played "One shoot" while dining in a job travel. I liked the surprising experience, even more when I couldn't retry in the current parser apk. So, read carefully the text, get involved when the atmosphere and empatize with the protagonist. There are some "all good, but different" endings, so make your choice according with your preferences. (As I am a weird player, I managed to see all the endings (this game deserves the effort), but this is other question).

A must play game, short, inmersive and original.

Trouble in Sector 471, by Arthur DiBianca

World of robots., October 8, 2022

I played this game last sunday in IFMUD. This is a great exploring game with an original plot where we have to explore a 8x8 map and solve various puzzles.
We are a robot with few habilities capable of learning a bunch of other ones. This habilities plus our intelligence enable us to solve the situations in the game.
There are a huge bunch of other robots with some habilities and functions needed to progress in the adventure. We will get a lot of information from them.

Descriptions of the enviroment allows the game to be inmersive.

This is an inmersive game, middle difficult, full lenght, enjoyable, recommended for every adventurer.

Ooooh! A new challenging chess problem for brainstorming, October 2, 2022
by Jade68
Related reviews: Chess, IFcomp-2022

I played and enjoyed this game in IFMUD last week testing online with Andrew S. (Thank you Andrew). We were playing the game in the middle of a brainstorming, why? Becouse this is a chess puzzle IF based on a famous chess end-game plot.
This is one of the two entries Andrew brings to this year IFcomp.
Ok then!, this is a chess problem ported to IF game, but it is not only that. This is a scene where you have to resolve a strategic battle situation. As usual from Andrew (I remember his last game about a malefical queen) this is a very well implemented game. Nevertheless I would prefer more epic literature every time I fail in the game. The theme gives it a lot of possibilities since it could be some battle in the Victorian era, Middle earth battle between orcs and dwarves, etc. This is the literature I missed here wich could improve the game giving it a soul.

No matter what I have written upwards, this is a polished game and any adventurer can enjoy it, being a chess master or a total begginer.

The good people, by Pseudavid

An strange first couple holiday travel., June 18, 2022

English & spanish review,

Man, it's okay for me to say so: A "roller coaster" game of emotions between the protagonists, their current history, their past life and their nearest future. Immersive, very well written, polished, long, seems replayable (I'll confirm that later). It contains a series of very well worked photos, they change their appearance between day and night; the text is assigned a color for each character and also becomes chaotic when the character falls apart psychologically.

Two notes: at some point we change characters and the texts are aligned on the screen, with different fonts and sizes, making them very easy to read.

We are discovering the story through exploration and conversation that gives us more or less direct and more or less disruptive options. The duration of the game according to MB is one hour, although it took us 2 hours to read all the texts aloud and choose the options among the 3.

A detail: Good people are not us. and the fact is that the game tells us about asymmetric relationships, the problems of uprooting, climate change, but also about the myths and legends of northern Spain.

In short, we are faced with a very fun game, which will make us think "in another way" depending on our personal relationship with the character, since through choices, it will end up becoming our avatar. It is more a game of whiskey than beer, better to play it at sunset in a quiet and unhurried place.

Ma Tiger's Terrible Trip, by Travis Moy

A lovely story intriguing to share in company., April 21, 2022

MA TIGER'S TERRIBLE TRIP

Congratulations Mo Travis, you have got it.
I have played the game with my son twice for two hours, second playthrough tables turned.
My son has a Harvard's C1 english qualifing but we have had to consult the meaning of some words in the dictionary. Your writing are polished, cult and lead to a n interesting inmersive attention.

About the game: It hit the goal you marked with high note.
Just from the beggining you receive a letter from some people that want to meet you. This encounter will lead to make some questions and the needing of also give some answers on your own.
The story is inmersive since the cery first choices. Is a serial of twisty ways to show little by little first the relationship between the players and afterwards the plot of the story by itself.
The timed part of the game where you have to choice between five options about life and dead maked me to be in a bit exquisite excited status
The server program works fine, avoiding the interchange of codes between player as in The Last Night of Alexisgrad that you mention in game's description. This handshacking is doing properly by the game itself.

I thing this game should be played by all the adventurers between them or with some people around. They will like the gameplay.
Also point at the fact that this game is full replayable.

You, Me and Coffee, by Florencia Minuzzi
A rainy afternoon witz a coffee and an old friend., April 19, 2022

YOU, ME AND A COFFEE

The first thing I have to talk about is that “you” seems to represent many people, more than ten I presume. There are few choices but the options maximize results, so depending on your choice story takes different ways.

To control the game in Android online you have to pick and move up and down your finger to chhose option and to the right in order to choose that option.

A simple game about resuming, or not, a friendly relationship in front of a coffee in a rainy afternoon.

A parser choice options game with few options., April 19, 2022

I have played this game for a while and the scheme is, as described in documentation, a barely talk / examine game where you travel all along through the choice options given by the game. There is many, many times to write "talk" and a few other actions.
This game is a text novel story where two girlfriends discover herself through some hypnosis experiments.

If you like erotic stories you can play it or not, otherwise this game doesn't worth a try.

A bit of psychologist for an unestable couple relatonship., April 19, 2022

So if you are Alex it is supposed I am Andra.

A short and very imaginative (low cost psychology) game where we can see how a couple try to fix and upgrade his relationship.
This festival I have played several games about space, psychologist, fiancees, dogs, hyperspace, fairies… all seems to be in duplicate.
In the reality things often goes upside down, she has the pan for the handle when talking about home things.
Meanwhile you can play several times with same ending.

Orbital Decay, by Kayvan Sarikhani

Save the ISS to crash down our planet., April 16, 2022

ORBITAL DECAY

There are always some space operas in any jam. It is a recurrent theme.
The author explains that this was to be a C64 graphic adventure and I realize it. Good graphics, inmersive music, and a hard scify pov.
I think Kayvan has been incestigating all info around ISS. The result is a simulacionist game, I like that flavour, where you do your actions the right way. If you detach tour helmet you die (there is a bug here, when you are inside the ship you are questionated about taking off the helmet you have previously take off and you die if you do here). You have to do the actions in the right sequence but there is a list in the wall, so this isn’t difficult.
Then you will have to fix and perform some tasks, discovering what have happened to the starship.

Anyway I liked this game very much. The left pannel let’s you turn the music on/off, save/restore the game and the left pannel shows graphics and the text box.

A good game everyone could try.

THE FAIRIEST

Yet another piece of art work from Amanda.
This is an original threatment for an old kind of adventure.
This game started as a simply way for bringing today an actualization about fairies, but become a polished, inmersive, full lenght game with a lot of final endings.
It is a easy game but as this is a full one, you will need to take some notes and writting down some maps.
The last interest is in using special commands to retrieve all the juice from the game.
This is a game that you will play slowly, reading and tasting all the text.
I hope Amanda go on bringing us new if pieces for a long time.

BIGFOOT BLUF

Another interesting piece of work by P.B. Parjeter.

Two interesting thing about the game: this was betatested in IFMUD and offline for various betatesters messaging between them with some agility.
This kind of test assured a polished and top notch game so everything has been argued and debated.

The game is an original piece with some score gameplay and a lot of interesting and original and smart puzzles very well inserted in the gameplay. It has a medium map with some explorating leads.
Furthermore there is a nice map in the feelies you surely welcome.
So, this is a game about bigfoots and a exploring game that will enjoy most of adventurers.
I recommend give it a try becouse I enjoyed it.

I tried to test Erik’s game but my PC and my low english spoken skill didn’t let me do. This is a game you have to speak with,
you have to play using voice and full English as the interface but I used the keyboard becouse voice just wasn’t working.

So I gived it a try introducing text and I can say this worth a try. It is an original piece pf work, you will enjoy it.

ABATE : HIDDEN BEHIND CURTAINS

I have played untill I have died 2 times, after the game works wrong. I haven’t found the curtains lol. Well, it is a different game and as it is said in the title " In Abate, each of your decisions lead to a permanent change in the realm, where a redo of several events thus never occur the same way due to your influence.”
So I have played several more times and I have found some additional credits.
This game is like a chewing gum in some ways: it has much faces, much different ways to go after taking some choices.

It is easy, short, polished and smart game.

This is a cool game with the premise that you have to leave from an underground localization. There are a lot of imaginative sequences that does the game very inmersive. The visual effects works fine and leads to the player has some feraness feelings.

As the game claims this is a short gameplay, easy, polished and inmersive “dig in the cave” title.

THE LEGEND OF THE HORSE GIRL

A game with western theme.
Last night, morning in USA we played this game in IFMUD.
This is a FULL LENGHT game. It will take to complete several hours.
It has several good puzzles in a consistent story about the evil and death in farwest.
The map you have to explore is medium size and obviously has some zones you can’t enter untill you have completed some tasks.
The NPCs has long conversations through ask for, ask about, give an object and so on.
Finally I hope that some automatizated answers and a few misspellings will be corrected.
This is of course a big, good game that I can recommend you without any problem.

I appreciate you effort with graphis and music. These both make the game more interesting.

A lot of people doing odd and freaking things untill the morning. I went alive in my third attempt. The game is short but replayable several times.
The answering machine is a new in this kind of game, giving to the player some good clues to survive. I think this game can be extended aftercomp in various ways to become a big great game.

TOURS ROUST TORUS

We tested this imaginative game a couple of weeks ago in IFMUD.
Now I have played the game again and it seems more polished to me. As the title says, there are some anagraming puzzles, none of them are specially difficult, they are affordable ones.
There is also some exploration work in the game. When you wander through a torus there is no cardinal directions.
The last puzzle has enough clues if you read the descriptions slowly.
It is a medium lenght, easy and friendly game.

Technically you have to escape from a prision cell. You know by now that I really love simulacionist games where you can interact with all the things around the room listed in descriptions.
It remembers me in some way The Bones of Rosalinda 0_o

On the other hand there is a little problem becouse the text is small for a smartphone. If you don’t enter the story the game itself can be reduced to a mechanical try and error system becouse it uses hyperlinks.

Amazing original threatment of PC, April 9, 2022

I want to talk a bit about this game becouse I tested it.
This is an awesome piece of work. I really loved playing. Since the very beggining, with the long intro I got involved in the story.
Every NPC has his own goals to do. You can talk with someone a lot, can drive into the game with other and your PC are severals, so you can play some parts of the game with different results according with your PC, as in Head over Heels game.

Furthermore, there is a maze and two possibilities to drive through it: Mapping or using your senses depending of which PC you play. I think this is a very smart conception.

So, following Mathbrush guide, I will give it four stars so that author improve this idea aftercomp.

I have previously played this game for the comp voting. Now I have played it again to the end.
Some quickly impressions:
It has some of the same vibes that Impossible Bottle. Player travels and interacts between some differents existence in-game plans.
The first third of the game is quite simple ad evoques a tutorial.
The second part is almost difficult if you don't realize that you are inside a game.
Finally, the third part of the game is a bit easier and leads to an autoexplaining ending.

So, the better is it's originality and plot, the story and develop.
The upgrading possibilities are a better descriptions and perhaps some more explanations.

I recommend to play it while it is warm.

This episode adds an NPC. The iteraction is simple but the conversation lets talking through "ask for" and "ask about", wich is not the standart way. The total lenght and difficulty is low.

As Mathbrush said:

"This game is essentially one of the coding examples from the Inform manual. It consists of two rooms, one with a locked door and a key. There are no real surprises; decompiling shows no hidden content.

The game is polished, but is not descriptive, has little interactivity, low emotional impact, and I wouldn't really play again. According to my rating system, it's 1 star."

Additionally I have to say that there is no command to go through that door, there aren't also any cardinal directions available.
Try to create a bit more inmersive games although these will be short ones.

Lost Pig, by Admiral Jota

A must play for every adventurer., January 9, 2022

I am playing the top rated adventures.
When I started to play this game I thought this was a poor one, but afterwards I enjoyed it a lot.

This game is full of details so it is a simulacionist one. You can try any action you think about.
The map is a cave that you can explore it by yourself. You should EXAMINE exhaustively all names in description so there are objets hidden, more or less.

The puzzles are nicely, coloured and logical. There are several ways to reach some actions.

In the heart of the game there are two NPCs, a pig and a gnome:

Taking the pig is the first task but also is untakeable as a fish. You find the pig rather soon, but you aren't able to catch up it untill later. The pig has its own life and seems that it want to do things in its own exploring all things while standing around you. Also the pig has responses to your actions.

The gnome has a personality, patience, acid humor, resignation, that fits perfectly with Grunk's simpler point of view about life. There are many, many things you can ask the gnome, most of which enrich and has no effect on the game, but several ones are major clues. You have to read carefully. There is fun talking about these lot of topics and you can spend currently a lot of time trying to exhaust the topics.

This is a re-playable game because you earn more point as you do the things in a better way. The game is middle-low difficult and some hours of gameplay.

Foreign Soil revisited, December 20, 2021

I wrote some weeks ago that I thought this game was... unfinished. I have finished it now and I have really changed my mind.
This is a good game, intriguing, inmersive, easy, medium lenght and worths a try.
I felt heat in my body and a big refreshing when I found...
... this is your task.

A polished NPCs for a great story., December 6, 2021

This is a great dialog experiment.
First time I played the game I found several (6) endings, as I played the adventure as a normal one.
Afterwards by digging in the conversation I found 4 more endings.
Finally I find that the game has 18 endings! so I tried to get trough more endings and reach 4 more.

Overall, the game is a must play for any adventurer, is about conversations and replayable much times.
The graphics are quite disturbing and perhaps give some clues about your position in the adventure.

A grue story., September 27, 2021

I give 3 stars couse Emily in rhe author.
The game gives me many errors and I can't finish it even if I follow the hints. It's a insipid short game with a misfunctional puzzle.

Botanical home garden game, September 14, 2021

A beautiful, botanical horticultural game. Very interesting, educational short one.
It's recomendable for any begginer or advanced adventurer so the game is very refreshing.
It fits in "lunchtime" game so it's a short one.
